How does it work? For every skein of yarn that we sell, $5 will be directly donated to the charity of focus, currently MSF / Haiti and the World Food Programme. What are the details? Each spinner sets their own price on the yarn, ensuring that they are adequately compensated for their work. Spinners will be paid on a quarterly basis for any sales generated with their yarn in the prior quarter. Administrative fees and the donation are not included in, nor deducted from, the spinner’s price. Donations raised will be distributed to our chosen charities by HH. We will update on a quarterly basis how much has been raised for each organization, through sales on the website, shows and via our fundraising page. How can I join in? If you are a hand spinner that would like to join us and would like more information please click here for a PDF that entails our requirements. We are currently seeking high-quality handspun yarn to offer at Stitches Midwest in August 2010. I don’t have any yarn for you at the moment but I’d still like to help / How can I donate? Humanity Handspun also has a fundraising page where you can donate directly to MSF. You can find it here: http://www.firstgiving.com/humanityhandspun. Help us reach our first $10,000! Can I just donate my handspun to you to sell? Donations of high quality, saleable handspun yarn are accepted and welcomed. Please keep in mind, the idea is to raise funds; we would like to have on offer the best yarns to generate the most sales and for the largest number of donations. When you provide us with your yarn donation please let us know what price we should offer it at. As with the yarns we sell from other spinners, keep in mind that administrative costs will need to be included in the sales price. For further details you can download our informational PDF linked above.
